125 Christmas Special Edition w/ Dave Pezzner (OM SF)

Genre: Dance , Electronica

  1. Wednesday, December 23 9:00 PM (21+)

Dave was unable to play at his last booking here, so finally this will be his long-awaited debut in the lounge.  Join us for a special Christmas edition of 125!

Dave Pezzner cut his chops in the early 00's as Jacob London with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break-beat rhythms.  In 2008 Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility. It wasn’t long before Freerange Records UK picked up his first two EPs, ‘Other Lover’ and the epic three-part masterpiece ‘Almost Here’.  San Francisco based OM Records followed with the well-received ‘Jouets Fantastiques’ putting Pezzner in the spotlight for a more party themed appeal, and clearing the road for a blinding number of followup releases and remixes.

125 Special T-Day Edition: Djs We Appreciate

Genre: Electronica

  1. Wednesday, November 25 9:00 PM (21+)

Thanksgiving is about family, friends and in our world...good music!  For this special edition of 125, we salute a group of Seattle's best Djs.  Come help us offer up thanks to many of the producers and Djs that make Seattle's electronic scene go.  The format will be an unformal eve of eclectic music with Djs rotating all night:

Grindle, Jerry Abstract, Electrosect, M'Chateau, Skyler, Snap, Ctrl_Alt_Dlt, Jonny Romero, Milkplant and Sone.

125 is built on the premise that mid-tempo electronic music leads a vagabond existence in Seattle, without a shelter to call home.  Thus, 125 is committed to furnishing a permanent nest to sophisticated electronic textures that you won't find at regular local club events.  The west coast is fertile ground for slower electronic music, with Seattle being the home for many internationally recognized mid-tempo producers, and still we have yet to see consistent events showcasing these sounds.

125 happens the 4th Wed of every month.

Happy Hour food specials from 9PM-12AM

125 w/ Jeff Mcilwain AKA Lusine (ghostly) and Snap (Snap/Krakle/Pop)

Genre: Electronica

Jeff McIlwain A.K.A Lusine is without a doubt one of the most important and recognized electronic producers living and working in Seattle.  Originally from Texas, Jeff was trained in modern electronic music at CalArts before relocating to Seattle.  His initial seminal releases on Hymen were sonic statements of the future, carving out a new niche in an oversaturated and sometimes tired electronic landscape.  Jeff has played at many of the clubs and festivals that furnish the contours of the international dance scene: DMF, Mutek, Fabric London...and is just returning from a June tour with Ghostly that took him to Barcellona, Moscow and Berlin.  Jeff is a returing fav, having played the Decibel gala earlier this spring and at last year's Decibel ambient showcase in the theater.  This will be his debut in the intimacy of our lounge and will be dropping a very special Dj set from 10-12.

Don't miss the opportunity to catch one of the true stars of the Seattle electronic scene.

2nd Annual Benefit for Shelby Webster Testis Cancer Research Fund featuring Dan Purser & J Minus w/opener Debra Arlyn

Genre: Alternative Rock

Presented by GIRO Entertainment

Concert promoter Noah Wick was at the height of his career when he received word in 2007 that he had testicular cancer. Thanks to a team of talented doctors, Wick is in remission and as a means of giving back, we've teamed up to bring you tonight's show, a benefit for the Shelby Webster Testis Cancer Research Fund featuring J Minus and The Dan Purser Band.

J Minus

At a time and place where "indie rock" is the norm, mainstream is the new indie. With captivating lyrics, distinguishable melodies, and dynamic personalities, J minus skillfully creates a musical experience that today's marketplace craves, yet so desperately lacks. The music of J minus spans the boundaries of rock, discovering new ground between postmodern alternative and an upbeat, yet subtly emotional delivery of acoustic rock.

While compared to contemporary artists such as Goo Goo Dolls, The Fray, and Death Cab for Cutie, J minus has created an identifiable sound that is nothing short of groundbreaking. Memorable hooks and guitar-driven depth create the emotional attachment craved by listeners of all ages. Along with Trevor's clever touch of on-stage humor, one can "expect to see an energetic group of musicians who have excellent stage presence and are confident in their abilities to speak to an audience" ( cdbaby.com).

Dan Purser CD release show!

Every few years an inspired grassroots buzz is created at the threshold of a dynamically gifted musician. Utilizing an irresistible charm along with an undeniable musical gift, Dan Purser has mesmerized numerous fans creditable of most mainstream artists.

Dan Purser is a singer/songwriter and a self taught musician who began to write and arrange complete compositions at a very early age. Dan soon took these compositions and applied them to a live show. By the age of 14 Dan was performing and captivating an audience. His uncanny ability to hypnotize a crowd with his charisma, energy, and passion for the music has lead him to perform on the same stages as John Mayer, Matchbox 20, Michelle Branch, and Maroon 5.

With looks like he was fashioned for a modeling campaign, Dan has managed to produce a self made fan base that attracts weak-kneed teenage girls and sorority students, along with dedicated music fans in search of new artists. It is these committed fans that have kept Dan consistently on tour. With a strong college fan base Dan has directed himself into performing every major University throughout Northern America.

3 Leg Torso & Blind Pilot

Genre: Eclectic World Chamber Music

"All the beauty of Astor Piazolla's music and the spirit of the Kronos Quartet."---CMJ

The Portland-based quintet 3 Leg Torso, coming to The Triple Door for the third time, presents a very real difficulty for inveterate categorizers. The best one-sentence description comes courtesy of the All Music Guide: "Their original tunes incorporate elements of modern chamber music, Middle Eastern and Eastern European folk music and Argentinian tango." This unusual synthesis is delivered with equal parts creativity, intelligence, wit and joie de vivre. In other words, it's great, brainy fun.

From their 1996 start as a trio busking on Portland streets, 3 Leg Torso has advanced their career with a feature on NPR's "All Things Considered", appearances with symphony orchestras, independent film soundtrack work, two commissions for the Portland Institute For Contemporary Art and two CD releases.

Most of the original compositions are generated by charter members Bela Balogh (violin, trumpet) and Courtney Von Drehle (accordian, saxophone, guitar). Their musical comrades are: Gary Irvine (percussion, mallets), Michael Papillo (bass) and Kyle MacLowery (mallets, percussion).

3LT is also going to release a preview single from the upcoming album at *this show only*.

3 Leg Torso performs first, Blind Pilot second.

3RD Annual Benefit for the Shelby Webster Testis Cancer Research w/Debra Arlyn and Andy Werth

Genre: Pop , Rock , Singer-songwriter

In 2007, Noah Wick received word that he had testicular cancer. Thanks to a team of talented doctors at Virginia Mason Medical Center, Wick is in remission and as a means of giving back, we've teamed up to bring you tonight's show, a benefit for the Shelby Webster Testis Cancer Research Fund featuring Debra Arlyn and Andy Werth.

Debra Aryln, Portland Music Awards “Best Female Artist of the Year”, continues to gain industry success as 'Portland's finest young pop singers..." says the Willamette Week. While the soulfulness of Debra’s incredible voice is unparalleled, her song writing and performance on her new CD, ‘Tomorrow Another Day’ has drawn comparisons to Alicia Keys, Colbie Callet and Carole King.  While pioneering her own musical path with indie label Homeslice Music, it is clear Debra has something significant to offer the music world as a musician, songwriter, and performer.

Andy Werth and his band began playing music in Seattle in 2006 after the overwhelming response to his EP Back to the Sun convinced Andy to take his music to the stage. News of the band's powerful live show spread quickly and soon they were packing some of Seattle’s best venues (The Crocodile, High Dive, Sunset, Tractor Tavern and Chop Suey) as well as playing the main stage at prominent festivals. In late 2007 Werth released his second EP, Seeing Stars. The response to this record far outpaced Back to the Sun, earning Werth and his band in-studio appearances on KEXP and The Mountain, more positive recognition from local and national press, and airplay on college radio stations across the United States.

A Tribute to Little Bill & The Bluenotes - A CD Release Event

Genre: Blues , Indie , Singer-songwriter

Enjoy a night of rockin’ Blues and emotional performances, as musicians from all over the region come together to pay tribute to veteran bluesman Little Bill Engelhart (“Little Bill & the Bluenotes”) and his music. The event is a celebration of Bill’s 70th birthday, his 55 years in the music business, and the release of a new CD, “Big Blues for Little Bill: A Tribute to the Music of Bill Engelhart.” The show features a collection of some of the most talented musicians the northwest has ever produced, among them Alice Stuart, Billy Stapleton, Mark Whitman, Dick Powell, Polly O’Keery & the Rhythm Method, The Randy Oxford Band with Patti Allen, Rod Cook & Toast, Bump Kitchen and, of course, Little Bill and the Blue Notes.

Each artist will be debuting their own interpretation of a Little Bill composition, in music that is as varied as the musicians themselves... some songs rock, others swing, shuffle or glide. There’s some funk, a little rockabilly, but it’s all the blues, baby. Together, the music presents a glimpse into the life of a man whom many would call the consummate working musician, Little Bill Engelhart. Over 60 musicians gathered over the course of the last year to record Little Bill songs, and the resulting enhanced CD will be on sale at the show. Production of the Cd was supported by Oxford Entertainment and The South Sound Blues Association, through donations from members of the local blues community. Proceeds from CD sales will be donated to the Dystonia Foundation, a cause very dear to Bill’s heart.
