Sweatbox Wednesdays: Off the Deep End

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Sweatbox has firmly established themselves as one of the true tastemaking electronic promotion outfits in Seattle.  Comprised of stand-up guys Jonathon Herrera and Chris Aldrich, Sweatbox has in a short period of time thrown some excellent late-night functions with superb national and west-coast talent like Nikola Baytola of San Francisco, Apendics Shuffle of LA and Big Bully, Derek Plaslaiko and Spinoza from NYC.   While many others concentrate on harsh, broken and unaccessible electronic textures that have no dance appeal, Jon and Chris drop slices of low-slung grooves that work the hips, not the head, one can't help but shake their money maker when they are behind the decks.  Off the Deep End will see the pair and their guests wade out of the shallow water and into the murky depths of their collections.  Expect a wide range of soulfull deep house and modern tech-house without moving into aggressive, clubby spaces.  Look out for special editions with national and int'l talent.

We are proud to host them for a new monthly that they will curate, happening the third Wed of every month.  This night nestles snuggly between Back to Ours (2nd Wed) and 125 (4th Wed), continuing our dedication to establishing our lounge as the best mid-week destination for superb local/national Djs and electronic producers.
