Ariel Storm

Genre: Ambient , Folk

  1. Wednesday, May 30 5:00 PM (21+)

Ariel Storm is the creative collaboration of Kai Ariel and Aria Storm, a married duo of multi instrumentalist singer songwriters based in Seattle.

Choosing creative independence, Ariel Storm built their own studio, Abracadabra, and created their own label, Carefree & Bohemian Records, through which they have released two albums of folktronic ambient dreampop psychedelia: the eponymous "Ariel Storm" (2006) and "Spellbreaker" (2016).

The two originally met in San Francisco drawn together by mutual passions of music, art, metaphysics and the healing arts.

Kai Ariel is a multi instrumentalist singer songwriter with a background in poetry, percussion and multi media performance events. His love of harmony and scholarship of all things rock music imbue his songs with reverence for the masters.

Aria Storm is a producer, composer, singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist. She graduated from UCLA with a BA in the composition and theory of music, where she also studied art. Her lush production of layered keyboards creates an ambient, psychedelic feel often heard as futuristic. Her tribal, trance inducing vocals were developed over years of being a professional dance musician and metaphysician. Aria is also an accomplished artist painting modern abstract acrylic works.

SZLACHETKA

Genre: Folk , Roots Rock

  1. Tuesday, May 22 8:00 PM (21+)

Rolling Stone hailed SZLACHETKA as one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know”, describing his forthcoming album as “a soundtrack for both the highway and the heartland… a collection of road-dog roots-rockers and Americana ballads inspired by the people (and places) he’s left behind in the rearview mirror.”

SZLACHETKA (pronounced SLA-HET-KA) draws your gaze back to a simpler time when music was less about stylized production and more about its experiential nature. His songwriting finds inspiration in the threads that connect us, weaving a tapestry of familiar moments that pay homage to the past while leaning into a future that promises both wonder and grace. Now based in Nashville, SZLACHETKA grew up in New England and began his career as the frontman for the acclaimed roots-rock band, The Northstar Session, with whom he recorded five albums and appeared in the second season of NBC’s “Parenthood”.  After nearly a decade of touring he left the band and struck out on his own, releasing his first solo album in 2014, “Waits for a Storm to Find”. SZLACHETKA’s sophomore album (produced by Grammy winning producer David Bianco), “Heart of my Hometown” is set for release in early 2018.

Matthew is a prolific songwriter who relishes the creative interplay of collaborative writing and the serendipitous connections that materialize on the road. In the last year alone, he has collaborated with Kevin Savigar (Rod Stewart, Kelsea Ballerini), Adam Wright (Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack), Mando Saenz (Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, Eli Young Band, Whiskey Myers, Kim Richey, Wade Bowen), Jeff Silbar (Wind Beneath My Wings), Wyatt Durrette (Zac Brown Band), Scott Underwood (TRAIN), Jamie Kent, Jamie Wyatt, Austin Hanks (Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top), Katelyn Clampett, Matt Brown, Andrew Leahey and Paul Freeman.

The Mighty Dreadful Stringband

Genre: Bluegrass , Folk

  1. Thursday, July 26 5:00 PM (21+)

There aren’t many musical conglomerates that can boast like The Mighty Dreadful. Through hard work and determination, they have established themselves as one of Washington’s most prolific and dynamic bluegrass groups.

Founders Kelly and Clayton first crossed paths through craigslist and a mutual enthusiasm for all things country music. They immediately began hunting for gigs and other folks to play with. Their living-room recordings earned them a slot at the 2015 Northwest Folklife Festival, after which they were praised for their vocal harmonies and instrumental prowess. Their dedication to art landed them a premier spot at the Ocean Shores-based ABC Fest in February of 2016.

March brought the inclusion of Andy Lowe and Nick Mclean on the upright bass and lead guitar, respectively. Both are longtime friends and troublemaking companions of Clay, and as such, a natural fit. The newly arranged stringband has since recorded eight original songs, and a variety of covers. When not in the studio, the Dreadful combine to form a musical juggernaut on stage, captivating audiences with strong vocal harmonies and self-deprecating humor.
