Alex Ashley

Mainstage Theatre, 216 Union Street, Seattle

“Alex Ashley’s songwriting takes you inside yourself and then out, impressing the beauty and danger of the complex world we live in…” —NPR

Americana/Soul artist Alex Ashley may hail from a small harbor town in the Pacific Northwest, but the Laurel Canyon sound rushes from him like a torrent: an electrifying amalgam of incendiary fingerstyle guitar playing and honeyed vocals with a hint of smoke that keeps poignant storytelling front and center.

In his early 30s, the “triple threat” singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist offers a healthy pour of pure-malt American Roots music that is like warming yourself around a fire built with the records of Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, the Eagles, CSNY, and Dire Straits. He takes us across the alley from the church house to the juke joint with an amalgam of soulful, in-the-pocket swagger, gospel-infused harmonies, raunchy slide guitar, growling Hammond B3, and lamenting pedal steel guitar.

Alex Ashley has been invited to share the stage with legendary artists such as 23-time Grammy Award winner Vince Gill, Jenny Gill, Andy Reiss, Jethro Tull’s Martin Barre, Joe Pug, Tyler Hilton, Nashville icons The Time Jumpers, jazz crooner Nicolas King, JD Simo, and others.
