Singer/comedian Lisa Koch is back for her annual Birthday Bash at the Triple Door, Friday February 6th, and her wicked social satire couldn’t be more timely. “Tina Fey meets Randy Rainbow with Joan Jett guitar chops.” Featuring fabulous multi-instrumentalist Barbara Higbie (Windham Hill, Trull/Higbie, Olivia), and a pile of ridiculously talented friends n’ family:
Alicia Healy (Seattle singer-songwriter, Winterblue Room Studios);
David Koch (Cabaret de Paris, ACT, Sing Out Seattle);
Quincy Koch (Lisa’s awesome singin’ niece);
Glenn Lorbecki (GlennSound, Grammies - guitar);
Jason Edwards (Shaggy Sweet - drums).
In these troubled times, Lisa urges all to join together and "sing loud and laugh hard” daily —as a recharge for the next crazy news cycle. It’ll be a night of comedy, community, and fabulous music for a memorable gathering of tunes and laughs.
Barbara Higbie A Grammy-nominated, Bammy award winning composer, pianist, fiddler, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Barbara Higbie was the first female instrumentalist to compose and record for Windham Hill Records, and she has played on more than 100 albums (including Carlos Santana and Bonnie Raitt). She was a founding member of jazz/rock group Montreaux (Darol Anger, Mike Marshall), duoed with vocalist Teresa Trull (Trull/Higbie, Olivia Records), joined bluegrass trio Hills to Hollers (Laurie Lewis, Linda Tillery) and has recorded 18 solo/duo albums, plus contributed to 10 compilations that have sold in the millions. Her most recent solo offerings include her “Chillogy” of original piano tunes, instrumental holiday CD, “Solstice,” and newest sleep CD, “Dreams.” “Barbara Higbie is one of the most exciting musicians I have heard, full of life and brilliant in her playing.”—S.F. Lisa Koch
Koch is best known for her work with loony Seattle sketch-comedy duo, Dos Fallopia (“Ham for the Holidays”), cult quartet Venus Envy ("I'll Be A Homo For Xmas"), and Seattle cabaret ("The Carpeters: Uncomfortably Close To You"). She has 5 solo recordings, has been featured on Olivia and LOGO, is the composer of Off-Broadway musical “27, Rue de Fleurus”, and actually had one of her songs sampled by Jay-Z. Lisa brings the funny, with velvet pipes, razor-sharp parody, and biting social commentary. She also brings her alter ego Sister Mary Agnes, and her musings on being a woman… from middle age to mammograms to mirth.
